EYFS

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Marlborough Primary School is made up of a morning and an afternoon Nursery class and two Reception classes.  Our aim is that all of our children succeed and that the education we provide,  gives our children the best chance to become happy and well-rounded individuals, reaching their full potential and that are ready to access the National Curriculum.

Our Curriculum

We believe that every child is unique and that children have different starting points.  Our curriculum is designed to recognise children’s diverse range of experiences from other settings and their home environment. We plan according to a child’s stage of development in order for them to be nurtured and thrive in our care.   We know the crucial role that early years has to play in providing firm foundations upon which the rest of a child education is successfully based.  In our planning we use the Statutory EYFS (education programmes) that provides us with the curriculum framework that we build on to decide what we intend children to learn and develop at our school.

Activities are organised to provide a range of learning experiences for children to flourish and make exceptional progress. Planning for each term is carried out using a topic-based approach, which is flexible to take into consideration children's interests and specific events.

Our children's learning is planned around the seven areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

 The Prime Areas:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

The Specific Areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Out Team

The practitioners in our setting always provide high quality interactions with all children ensuring that they are excellent role models for language, learning and behaviour at all times.  They observe and assess children’s development, support learning through play, lead learning and provide challenge so that all children reach their full potential.

Parents as Partners

We value our partnership with parents and believe that they have a crucial role in their child’s education.  Our Parents are actively welcomed to be involved in their children’s learning in school through sharing learning experiences through reading mornings, sharing learning journals and workshops.
